I fell in love with the poodle almost 7 years ago when Bayley, a small toy poodle came into my life. He had bad hair, and poor conformation, but was so sweet and irresistible. Now at 7 years old, Bayley weighs 4 lbs and rules the roost. After I adopted my first standard poodle, I was hooked. Poodles are awesome, in my opinion, and no other breed compares. They are smart, social, and so much fun. All my poodles are absolutely spoiled rotten. They are all house and crate trained. We have daily group play and lots of one on one time. I do have a kennel for practical purposes, but they spend lots more time out of the kennel than in it. I feed my poodles Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul. The main ingredient in this dog food is meat. Dogs are meat eaters and it's very important that real meat is part of their diet. Additionally, they are fed raw 2-3 times per week. Prevention is the key to healthy animals. My poodles are on a regular schedule to prevent fleas, heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms. They are also kept up to date on vaccinations and groomed regularly. My goal over the next few years is to produce top quality miniature, and standard poodles. This means producing puppies which meet the breed standards of AKC and UKC. Therefore, my adults will be evaluated and health tested prior to breeding in order to produce physically and mentally sound poodles. I love all my babies and want to make sure they are happy and healthy. |

| It' Just a Dog From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "That's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and, in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me, and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a human." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile.... because they "just don't understand." - Anonymous |
